McArthur demands formal statement on Beauly-Denny power line5.11.33pm GMT Thu 29th Oct 2009 Following media reports at the weekend about the decision to go ahead with the Beauly-Denny power line, Liberal Democrat Energy spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has called for Ministers to make a formal statement to Parliament on their decision at the earliest possible opportunity. Commenting, Mr McArthur said: "Ministers must now make their formal decision on the Beauly-Denny power line known to Parliament in a statement next week. "The SNP Government have had the recommendations from the reporter for 10 months. It was made clear from media reports at the weekend that a decision has now been made at long last. "There is now no reason for delaying a formal announcement. "Given the national, strategic importance of this power line for helping unlock Scotland's massive renewables potential, a statement should be made to Parliament at the earliest opportunity."
