Improving behaviour is welcome, but efforts must continue

3.12.38pm GMT Mon 23rd Nov 2009

Commenting on a study of teachers who say pupils’ behaviour in school is improving, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith MSP said:

“Thanks to the investment in schools started by the previous Liberal Democrat/Labour administration, behaviour has been steadily improving. This is a welcome finding and pupils, teachers and parents are to be applauded for the good progress.

“Ministers must not lose focus however. Last week was anti bullying week and we heard concerning stories of bullying in schools across Scotland. There is still much that must be done to stamp out bullying and other poor behaviour in schools. This cannot be an excuse for a relaxation of investment and effort from the Education Minister.”
