Purvis welcomes CBI confirmation of business rates concern5.22.47pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 14th Jun 2010 Commenting as the CBI launch their manifesto, ‘Energising the Scottish Economy: a business agenda for reform and recovery’, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP said: “Much of the CBI contribution we welcome and we share common cause with much of their priorities. “It is a major interest that for the many businesses faced with crippling rates increases as a result of the SNP refusal of any transitional relief, the CBI has been moved to call for the next revaluation to be delivered differently. “The specific call for the revaluation to come with a consultation is in stark contrast to the SNP’s approach. “Those businesses facing massive bill increases of up to 200% don’t want a campaign for fiscal responsibility in the future; they need an approach of fiscal fairness under the SNP now.”
