Statement from Chief of Exam Qulaification Development smacks of desperation

5.25.13pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 26th Jul 2010

Commenting on the statement from the Director of Qualifications Development at the SQA, on the overhaul of exams as part of the new curriculum for Scottish schools, Liberal Democrat Deputy Education spokesperson Hugh O’Donnell MSP said:

“This latest statement from the Chief of Exam Qualifications Development smacks of desperation and won’t suppress the fears of pupils, parents and teachers all over Scotland about the new qualifications.

“Liberal Democrats have been calling for months for clarification on what the new qualifications will mean for the 54,000 pupils starting high school in August, and we still have no clear answer.

“The Education secretary must realise that Scottish pupils deserve far better from him than this continual fudge.

“He must tackle the confusion that remains over what the new qualifications will mean for pupils.”
